Records of a society of retired educators from the Superior, Wisconsin area established in 1951 to promote and protect their interests, rights, and welfare. Originally known as the Retired Teachers Association of Superior (and later the Superior Area Retired Teachers Association or SARTA), it was the first such local association in Wisconsin and had ties with both the state and national retired teachers associations. Records include meeting minutes, a handbook of members (1962), photographs of individuals and the group, and three volumes of news clipping scrapbooks. Historical materials, gathered for the U.S. Bicentennial, include a history of the group, a meeting program (1901) of the North Wisconsin Teachers' Association, reminiscences of retired Northern Wisconsin teachers, and a transcribed set of 1886 rules for teachers.
