This collection is a documentation of varieties of limnology-related research topics, with emphasis on fish in various lakes across Wisconsin, especially in Lake Mendota. The bulk of this collection is research carried out by or in collaboration with Arthur D. Hasler. Hasler played a key role in the construction of the Laboratory of Limnology on Lake Mendota and the Trout Lake station on Trout Lake.
Film documentation of research done on fishes in lakes in Wisconsin, especially in Lake Mendota. Several of these films were shot by Arthur Hasler, and other contributors including Fritz Albert, Frederick Hasler, John Tibbles, David Weininger, WHA-TV and John Magnuson.

- A bulk of this collection is research carried out by or in collaboration with Arthur D. Hasler under the center for Limnology. The Center for Limnology (CFL) was established in July 1982 to coordinate, conduct and facilitate research, teaching and outreach on freshwater ecosystems at University of Wisconsin-Madison. The Center for Limnology was initiated by E.A Birge and Chancey Juday, but its roots were further developed by Arthur D. Hasler. Hasler was an associate professor of Zoology and was promoted to full professor in 1948, and served in that capacity until he retired in 1978.
