Anna Nassif joined the dance faculty at UW-Madison in 1967 as an associate professor. She became a full professor in 1975 and taught at the Department of Kinesiology, part of the school of Education Dane Program, until her retirement in 1998, where she was granted Professor Emeritus status. During her career as a professor, Nassif taught various levels of dance technique; founded, developed and taught all levels of dance repertory; taught and developed advanced courses in dance composition, history, theory and philosophy, production, and criticism; and she directed independent study programs. She was an advisor for MFA graduates and was a committee member and reader for PHD program candidates. She also presented about 200 choreographic works, lectures, demonstrations and master classes. Nassif founded the UW Dance Repertory and Anna Nassif Dance Theater while at UW-Madison. She was a faculty senator for seven years; served as chairperson of the UW Dance Program from 1979 to 1981; was the resident choreographer, artistic director, coordinator, and a producer for select concerts and lecture series; and she served on the dance program and school of education program committees.
