A cartoon from the series "Oswald the Lucky Rabbit," which was produced in three eras, by Walt Disney from 1927-1929, by George Winkler from 1929-1929, and by Walter Lantz from 1929-1942. Animators Ub Iwerks and Walt Disney worked together to create the character of Oswald, who became an early series success for Walt Disney's studio. Oswald was the prototype for Disney and Iwerk's later collaboration, Mickey Mouse. In this short, from the Winkler era, Miss Cottontail declines Oswald's marriage proposal, and he launches a series of unsuccessful suicide attempts, which culminate instead in his rescuing Miss Cottontail from a burning house.
