This collection contains Mass Observation pre-war and wartime material on adult education in Britain. It includes material collected during the Worktown project in Bolton (1937) about WEA classes, educational facilities for unemployed people, summer schools and other initiatives. There is also information from surveys on evening classes in London (1939), Oxford University and Goldsmiths Teacher Training College, including attitudes of students and student leisure activities. Miscellaneous papers on universities and evening classes are included.
