Kung Hsiang-his (H. H. Kung) grew up in a prosperous Confucian family. After receiving both a traditional Chinese education and schooling in the sciences, he went abroad to study at Oberlin College and Yale University. From that point on, Kung became involved in the Nationalist revolution and rose to high rank within the Kuomintang, as this program explains.
