Diaries for 1920-1922,1934 and 1935 by Hazel Rider Daly, born in 1885 and died September 24, 1962. She was married to Fred M. Daly, with two school age sons, Don and Fred Jr. From 1920-1922 she gives her address as 33 N. Church St., Cortland, NY, but by 1931 she was living at 9 Wheeler Ave, Cortland, NY. She writes of housework, sewing, visiting and telephoning with friends and family, going down town shopping, movies, card parties, church, etc. She belongs to the Order of Eastern Star and mentions its activities. In 1920 she was working as an assistant bookkeeper in a coal office and also acted as the Census Enumerator for her area. She appears to take in laundry as she writes of people bringing in their wash and spends a lot of time washing and ironing. Her entries often include the menu for the main meal of the day and much baking. They appear to be thriving during the Depression. Included is a letter to Hazel from Belle and receipts for payment for coal. Some months have no entries. In the back are some addresses and a list of gifts given and received. In the front of the 1934 diary is a photograph of Belle and Lucretia taken about 1924.
