Papers of Daniel J. Wacker concerning his experiences as a civil rights volunteer with the Delta Ministry in Mississippi during the summer of 1965. Included is correspondence from northern supporters and friends in Mississippi; miscellaneous press clippings about conditions in Mississippi mainly from the 1960s, but including a couple from 1993; a file containing information packets and newsletters of the Delta Ministry; volunteer applications for the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO) and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC); and Wacker's typed journal ("A Mississippi Journal, 1965") containing a day-by-day account of his activities as a voter registration canvasser in Hattiesburg, McComb, and Summit, Miss. The journal is filled with his impressions and details about conditions, and is illustrated with numerous photographs made by Wacker of the places he saw and stayed and the people he met and with whom he worked. It also contains maps, clippings, and other documents.
