Records, mainly 1959-1961, of the legal office of ZIV-United Artists Inc., the United Artists subsidiary created in 1960 by the purchase of ZIV Television Programs Inc. The files primarily relate to the period after the UA purchase, although many files contain correspondence, memoranda, contracts and agreements, and court documents pertaining to court and labor litigation; relations with writers such as Vera Caspary and Adrian Spies, directors such as Walter Donegan, and actors such as Broderick Crawford and William Conrad; and to other legal matters.

The file combines records created by several members of the staff (Daniel M. Sklar, A. Frank Reel, and Edward Rothman), with Sklar handling the majority of the contract negotiations and Rothman handling the majority of the litigation. A portion of the series concerns negotiations and labor disputes with the Screen Writers guild, the American Federation of Musicians, and other professional unions.
