520    $aRecords of a committee financed by Armour and composed of company, union, and neutral representatives which sought remedies to the displacement of workers when Armour and Company modernized its meatpacking operations and closed plants in the 1950s and 1960s. Included are administrative records providing an overview of committee work, reports from committee studies and projects, a subject file on labor issues, and files on plant closings where the committee actively assisted workers being laid off.$bThe administrative records include correspondence, memoranda, and minutes from the files of executive director, Robben W. Fleming, 1960-1961; co-chairman, George P. Shultz, 1962-1968; and committee member James L. Stern, the late 1960s. The files on plant closings document particularly well the committee projects in Kansas City, Missouri and Omaha, Nebraska.
