Summary

  • Papers of a pioneer reporter and writer on broadcasting consisting of newspaper clippings and various trade publications published and edited by Codel. Bound as scrapbooks are newspaper articles written for the Consolidated Press Association, North American Newspaper Alliance, and Radio News Bureau. This portion of the collection dates 1926-1969.
  • The processed portion is summarized above and is described in the register. Additional accessions date 1920-1971, are described below, and include surveys of international broadcasting prepared for RCA and Time-Life Broadcasting, writings on early radio and the beginnings of the FCC, material relating to Codel's work as director of information for the Mediterranean Area Red Cross during World War II, and research files.
