Subject files provided information on enrollment, degrees granted, and geographic distribution of the student body; and correspondence. Initially, the files consist primarily of enrollment statistics, brief reports made to the Board of Regents outlining campus enrollment, and detailed lists of students, their hometowns, and the high schools from which they graduated. By the mid 1940s the file no longer contains such a detailed list. Instead, one finds lists of students arranged by degree, commencement materials, reports to the Board of Regents, and lists of students by county of origin. Individual files may also contain statistical studies of the student body, places of employment for work study students, the grades received by students enrolled in rural education or information regarding faculty teaching assignments. Thus, in addition to providing routine enrollment figures for the University, the series includes an abundance of information documenting the evolution of the University.
