A joint effort by the U.S. and South Korean governments to expand military bases in Pyeongtaek, South Korea threatens dislocation for farmers in the village of Daechuri. Efforts to oust the villagers have included beatings, destroying homes and schools, and surrounding the village in barbed wire. A dwindling number of hold-outs face difficult decisions.
