Hariram and his family are poor, but happy. However, when his wife passes away, Hariram turns to alcohol and loses his job. Then, his son, Rattan, is beaten by the village money lender because Hariram is in default of his debts. Furious, Hariram nearly kills the money lender. When the money lender is robbed and murdered during the night, Hariram is the obvious suspect. Rattan must team up with Ghaseeta, a pickpocket and the only person who can confirm Hariram's alibi, to clear his innocent father's name.
