- The authorship of this pamphlet has been attributed by Justin Winsor in his Narrative and critical history (volume v, pages 76, 80) to Richard Berresford, and in his later book, The Mississippi Basin (pages 141 note) to Dr. James Smith. Internal evidence, however, would discriedit either as the author.--cf. Introd. to 1928 reprint edition, pages 8.
