A documentary television program looking at the presidential term of Mexico's Miguel de la Madrid. At the beginning of his term, low international prices for Mexican oil and the rapid growth of Mexico's population exerted pressures that threatened economic advancement. Miguel de la Madrid's authoritarian policies, combined with the great Mexico City earthquake of 1985, formed a chain of events that led to the until then unimaginable fracture of the official party.
