An investigative documentary about the growth of conservative Christian fundamentalism in Central America, especially Guatemala and Honduras. Shows connections between the fundamentalist evangelical movements and the U.S. military policies in Central America. The rise to power of Gen. Rios Montt, a devout evangelical, in 1982 solidified the connection between right-wing military power and fundamentalism. Shows how the authoritarian and oppressive elements benefit from a population that is converted to a religious faith based on blind faith in God, the acceptance of military power, the rejection of reformist and socialist and political action, and which equates communism with the devil and the military with salvation.
