Maria Guardado is a Salvadoran activist who fled to Los Angeles after being kidnapped and tortured in 1980 as the war in El Salvador began. She now struggles to link the massacres and human rights abuses committed in Central America to the expansion of US hegemony and neoliberalism. This documentary shows Maria as she returns to El Salvador in 2000 for the twentieth anniversary of the killing of Archbishop Oscar Romero.
