In Schindler's List he embodied the emotional core of Steven Spielberg's film, as the accountant Itzak Stern. More recently he played comedy in The Wackness, haunted cinema-goers in Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island and strapped himself into Mike Newell's blockbuster ride, The Prince of Persia.
