Papers, mainly 1964-1992, of antinuclear activist and editor/journalist Samuel H. Day, Jr., documenting his tenure as editor of "The Progressive" (mainly concerning that magazine's publication alleged H-bomb secrets); editorship of the "Intermountain Observer" (Boise, Idaho); participation in a Gulf War protest at Fort McCoy, Wisconsin in 1991 for which he was jailed; a trip to South Africa during the 1980s; and other peace-related activities and interests. The anti-Gulf War files include legal papers, jail records, and correspondence to and from peace activists around the country and his wife, Kathleen. Papers concerning his leadership of Nukewatch are part of the records of that organization which are also held by the Historical Society, although "Trip 133," an unpublished novel concerning experiences during its Truckwatch Program, is included here. Additionally, there is printed matter concerning the efforts of the U.S. Campaign to Free Mordecai Vanunu including issues of the organization's newsletter "I Am Your Spy," pamphlets, brochures, and news articles.
